MINNEAPOLIS -- The 9-month-old son of California Angels pitcher Mark Leiter died Monday from Werdnig-Hoffmann disease, a children's form of Lou Gehrig's disease, the club announced yesterday.

Ryan Alexander Leiter will be buried today during a private memorial service in Anaheim Hills, Calif.

Mark Leiter, a former Orioles minor-leaguer, joined the Angels on March 19. He told manager Buck Rodgers yesterday that he still wants to make his scheduled start Saturday against the Milwaukee Brewers.
