POLICE

* Taylorsville: A resident of Salem Bottom Road told state police someone stole a set of stereo speakers from his vehicle while it was parked near his home Friday. The loss was estimated at $500.

FIRE

* Winfield: Engines from Winfield and Westminster responded to a woods fire in the 2500 block of Salem Bottom Road at 1:10 p.m. Sunday. Units were out for an hour and 39 minutes.

Volunteers from Winfield responded to a field fire on Streaker Road at noon Saturday. They were out for 45 minutes.

* Mount Airy: Engines from the Mount Airy station assisted Frederick County at the scene of a woods fire on Old National Pike at 1:56 p.m. Saturday. They were out for an hour.
