Honored for: Winning two prizes in a writing contest sponsored by the Westminster Women's Club. Sarah won second place for short story with "The Toy Shop Mystery," and third place for poetry with "When Your Imagination Runs Wild."
She received her award March 17, when Women's Club member Nancy McAllister went to her language arts class to present it.
Goals: "I want to write and illustrate my stories. I'd like to write children's books."
Comments: "I was really surprised," she said of winning in two categories.
When Ms. McAllister went to teacher Susan Case's class to give Sarah her award, "My knees were shaking so much I could barely get out of my seat," Sarah said.
bTC She's never won a writing contest before, although she entered one in fourth grade.
"I like to write, but I just never thought I was good enough to win anything."
