Adriane has been interested in art since she was a child. Now, she uses her hobby to paint logos for the school's drama department and does calligraphy invitations and certificates for school functions. The 4.0 grade point average student also is working on a mural outside the school's art room.

Throughout high school, she has been involved with the Art Service Club, "It's Academic," the Science Club, Asian Focus, Speech and Debate Club and Russian Club.

She is a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist, a National Honor Society member and a Maryland Distinguished Scholar honorable mention in visual arts.

Outside of school, she plays ice hockey and figure skates. She has been a team member with the U.S. Figure Skating Association.

She also has completed a summer internship at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab and attended the Space Academy in Huntsville, Ala., as well as participated in the Maryland Summer Center for the Arts. She attained the rank of airman with the Howard County squadron of the Civil Air Patrol, which does search and rescue missions.

Plans: She wants to pursue a career in aerospace.

Her comments: "In first grade, we had to draw an illustration for a children's book. I drew a cat, and it looked like a little animal with four sticks coming out. It looked like a sausage. My friend commented it turned out good. My teacher also said it looked good. Then I just kept drawing."
