Doug Slusher drove in the winning run on a two-out double as No. 8 North County edged Col. Richardson, 2-1, in the championship of the Caroline County Tournament.
Junior right-hander Tweety Barton pitched eight innings, allowing only a bunt single while striking out eight for North County (2-1). Col. Richardson falls to 3-2-1.
The Knights beat North Caroline, 9-2, to advance to the finals.
* Mount St. Joseph 5, Glen Burnie 0: Sixth-ranked host Mount St. Joseph powered its way to its sixth Lead-Off tournament crown, becoming the first team to win it back-to-back in the tournament's 11-year history.
The Gaels (4-2), last year's private-school state champ, had 19 hits in two games, blanking Glen Burnie, 5-0, for the title.
The Gaels scored all their runs after getting six of eight hits in the first inning against Glen Burnie.
Mount St. Joseph beat No. 15 Fallston, 9-4, in a semifinal that was a rematch of last year's tournament title game -- won, 6-2, by the Gaels.
Glen Burnie had 10 hits to stun 11th-ranked, defending 3A state champ Lansdowne (1-1) by 11-5 in the other semifinal.
The Gophers, who had one error in the tournament, faced three hurlers from Lansdowne, which led, 2-0,
after two innings.
Boys lacrosse
* Glen Burnie 7, Northeast 6: Senior attackman Seth Murphy scored two goals and had an assist as Glen Burnie (2-1) topped host Northeast (1-1) in the Griffin Tournament championship game.
Chris Hunt made 21 saves for the Gophers.
* Loyola 13, Severna Park 6: Junior midfielders Scott Diggs, Tim Hahn and Brian Zeller each scored two goals as Loyola (4-0) defeated Severna Park in the championship game of the C.M. Wright Tournament.
Loyola outshot Severna Park, 40-26. Fourteen Loyola players either scored or made an assist.
Girls lacrosse
* Arundel 11, Dulaney 10: Senior Katie Hamburger scored a game-high five goals as Arundel (2-0) topped No. 15 Dulaney in the Arundel Tournament championship.
