Outlook: The Capitals come to Detroit on a high note, after back-to-back victories, including a 4-1 win Tuesday night over Hartford that saw new additions Joe Juneau (one goal, two assists) and D Jim Johnson and Joe Reekie all play well. Detroit, on the other hand, blew a three-goal lead Wednesday night and lost to lowly Ottawa, 5-4. Washington is expected to go with Don Beaupre in goal, while Detroit will decide between G Bob Essensa and Chris Osgood just prior to the game. The Caps are 3-1 in their past four games, while Detroit is 2-3 in its past five. Washington's RW Pat Peake (cracked rib) and D John Slaney (sprained ankle) are day-to-day. G Rick Tabaracci (sprained knee) is out. Detroit reports D Terry Carkner and RW Sheldon Kennedy have bruised shoulders and are day-to-day.
