Carroll Library wins achievement citation

The Carroll County Public Library has won a National Achievement Citation for its administration of the Carroll County Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service.

The citation is awarded by the Public Library Association, a division of the American Library Association, and recognizes significant activities that have been developed to address particular concerns or issues within a community.

The Carroll County Bar Association's Lawyer Referral Service is a cooperative community service program. Attorneys participating in the program, members of the Carroll County Bar Association, pay an annual fee to be included.

The Carroll County Public Library administers the program as part of its information and referral service. Individuals who contact the service are given the name of an attorney who specializes in the appropriate field of law and schedule an appointment through a conference call.

The client pays a $25 referral fee to the attorney.
