Unidentified man slain in Pimlico

BALTIMORE -- An unidentified man was shot to death on a Pimlico street early today.

Northwestern District police responding to a report of shots fired and an injured man in the 5200 block of St. Charles Ave. between West Belvedere and Hayward avenues around 2 a.m. found the body of a man in his early 20s lying in the street.

Police said the man, who had no identification on him, was shot at least once in the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Residents of the street told police they heard several gunshots but did not see anyone fleeing the scene of the shooting.

The body was taken to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy and identification by fingerprints, police said.
