* Ellicott City: 3500 block of Mount Ida Drive: Someone entered a basement through an unlocked door and took two bicycles Tuesday. The victim's son found the stolen property in the woods nearby, police said.

7800 block of Old Hollow Lane: A would-be thief attempted to steal an Acura Integra shortly after midnight on Wednesday.

* Elkridge: 6200 block of Sutton Court: A turquoise 1990 Honda Accord with Maryland tags XZB917 was stolen Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. Police said they found a 1987 Volkswagen Jetta stolen from Baltimore along the same street.
