Tyrone Brice scored four of his 16 points from the foul line in overtime, as North Carolina A&T; survived a last-second scare in regulation and defeated Howard, 61-57, in overtime in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals.

The third-seeded Aggies (14-13) advanced to today's semifinals against UMES at 4:30 p.m.

The sixth-seeded Bison (10-17) led 28-27 at halftime. The lead changed hands six times in the second half, in which both offenses stalled down the stretch. The teams combined for only two points in the final five minutes.

Howard had several chances to win in regulation. With the score tied at 50, the Bison missed four shots in the final eight seconds, including two layups by center Grady Livingston (17 points, 14 rebounds, six blocks).

Howard took a 53-50 lead in overtime on a three-point play by Livingston, but a three-pointer by Phillip Allen (game-high 19 points) put North Carolina A&T; on top to stay, 55-53, with 2:15 left in overtime.
