* 12-and-under boys -- The Greater Glen Burnie Patriots outscored Harundale, 7-5, in overtime en route to a 36-34 victory in Danny Ainge League action last weekend.

Gary Curley led the way for the Patriots with 12 points and Brian Kellner added 10. Rounding out the scoring for Greater Glen Burnie were Matt Moulis (six), Mike Gray (four), Craig Hall (three) and Monte Cross (one).

Playing well defensively for the victors were Matt Reptowski and Jared Hince.

Brian Huber led all scorers with 13 points and teammate Justin Geddings added 10.

The Patriots claimed a 34-25 victory over Severna Park last weekend in the first round of the Arbutus Tournament.

Kellner paced the Pats with 13 points and Howard Otto chipped in eight points and 10 rebounds. Reptowski scored four for the victors, Ben Bunce added three and Cross, Moulis and Curley (five rebounds) all had two.

Bernie Edwards led Severna Park (0-1) with eight points.

* 10-12 girls -- Cape St. Claire upped its record to 7-1 by defeating previously unbeaten Severna Park, 23-17, last Saturday at Old Mill Middle School North.

The Cape, which dropped its season opener to Severna Park, was led by Megan Kennedy, who pulled down 13 rebounds and scored nine points. Suzie Shuttleworth added six points and 10 rebounds for Cape St. Claire and teammate M. J. Pruner tossed in four points and pulled down seven rebounds.

Kim Barr (six rebounds) and Kristen Gough rounded out the scoring with three and one point, respectively.

In its previous game, Cape St. Claire downed Maryland City, 22-10. The Cape, which held Maryland City to two points in the first half, was led by Nike Westlund (eight points, five steals) and Megan Kennedy (six points, 14 rebounds).

Also contributing to the victory were Shuttleworth (four points, seven rebounds), Barr (two points, nine rebounds) and Jessica Pasterak (two points).

Cape St. Claire, which is currently in a three-way tie for first place with Severna Park and Greater Glen Burnie, will take on Lake Shore at 11 a.m. Saturday at Old Mill Middle School North before meeting Greater Glen Burnie at the same location March 26.

* 12-and-under boys -- Behind 14 points apiece from James Bowen and Norris Roy, the GORC Wildcats downed the Severn Savages, 54-38, to improve its county record to 9-0 and its overall record to 17-2.

Strong first-half rebounding by center Mike Isler (nine points) and 10 first-half points by Bowen paced the Wildcats to an eight-point halftime advantage against a tough Severn defense.

The Wildcats' second-half surge was keyed by Roy's 10 points and Derick Dixon's six points. Key rebounds by Lucas Esop (six points) and Bowen allowed the Wildcats to control the tempo of the game in the second half.

Aggressive Wildcat defense was played by Matt Sheperd, Kris Lundborg, John Houches and Monte Campbell.

* 14-and-under boys -- The Linthicum-Ferndale Suns raised their record to 11-1 by splitting two games last week in the Linthicum-Ferndale Intramural League at Lindale/Brooklyn Park Middle School.

In the first game, the Suns lost to Murph's, 37-31. Murph's jumped out quickly to take a 24-9 halftime lead. The Suns charged back in the second half and cut the lead to four but couldn't get any closer.

Chad Brown led the Suns with 11 points, followed by Jeff Care with nine and Neal Conlon and Eric Schonbachler with four each. Cody rounded out the scoring with three points.

Murph's was led by Tim Brogunier with 16 points and Justin Blick with 12. George Shorter added five for the winners.

In the second game, the Suns defeated Klem's, 34-19. The Suns came out running and took a 9-1 first-quarter lead. Conlon led the Suns with 10 points and Care added nine. Gales and Schonbachler chipped in six and four points, respectively.

Brown and Frankie Carter each pitched in two points while Brian Webb scored one.

Klem's was led by Tony Canterna with 11 points and Donovan Fox and Mitch Proedehl each added four.

* 8-10 boys -- The Severna Park Green Hornets select county boys basketball team, winners of seven tournament championships, raised their overall record to 58-4 with several victories over the past two weeks.

In county league action Saturday, the Green Hornets beat the Annapolis All-Stars, 37-23, Lake Shore, 35-18, Harundale, 19-12, and GORC, 44-9.

On Sunday, the Green Hornets defated Silver Hill, 36-17, for the championship of the Libby Southwest Tournament at Camp Springs. It was the fifth straight year that Severna Park won the tournament in Camp Springs.

Deon Gough was named the tournament MVP. Also playing well for the Hornets were Jon Garritt, David Williams, Trevor Quinn, Tim Pollock, Gavin Floyd, Doug Kurz, Lionel Jennings, Jon Taylor, Bobby West, Todd MacMullan, Chris Mason and Kevin Camponeschi.

* 13-14 boys -- The Linthicum-Ferndale Yellow Jackets improved their Calbert Chaney League record to 8-0 with a 37-23 victory over Severna Park last week at Northeast High School.

Both teams came out hot and the first quarter ended in a 10-10 tie. But the Yellow Jackets turned up the defensive pressure in the second quarter and third quarters, outscoring their opponents 17-2 to take a 27-12 lead into the fourth period.

Rich Wiseman led Linthicum-Ferndale with 19 points and Rick Anarino and Mario Proserpi added six points each. Bryan Ashburn and Will Klemkowski chipped in four and two points, respectively.

Chad Brown, George Shorter, Jason Ashburn and Tim Brogunier anchored the defense for the Yellow Jackets.

The Yellow Jackets improved their Rebels Sunday League record to 7-0 by defeating the Anne Arundel Optimists, 40-29, last Sunday at North County High School.

The Yellow Jackets leaped out to a 9-1 first-quarter lead but the Optimists fought back to cut the deficit to 15-11 at the half. Both teams played well in the second half but the Yellow Jackets outscored the Optimists, 25-18 for the final margin.

Wiseman led the Yellow Jackets with 19 points and Anarino added nine. Brown chipped in six points and Proserpi and Bryan Ashburn scored four and two, respectively.

Indoor soccer The Wolfpack (9-1) completed the first session at Meyer Pavilion clinching the championship with a 13-2 defeat of the Brooklyn Park Youth Athletic Association.

Bill Coursey, Nick Hurd, Blake Best, Adam Frashure, Britt Mitchell, Charlie Stup, Michael Dellorusso and Scott Snyder scored goals for the Wolfpack against BPYAA.

Coursey, Frashure, Stup, Marques Henderson and C. J. Leo were credited with assists. Wolfpack keeper Ben Buckey

recorded 14 saves.

Wrestling

The Attackers Wrestling Club beltway team wrestled in the annual Capitol Area Wrestling League Regional Tournament last weekend at West Springfield High School in Springfield, Va.

The top six finishers from each weight class will go to the combined Maryland/Virginia state finals this weekend at Western Maryland College in Westminster. Eleven Attackers placed and will be making the trip to the states. Carl Cicchetti (110 pounds) and Ron Cooper (140) each finished first for Arden and Bryan Hayne (115) and Ryan Herwig (70) each took second. Jason Heffernan qualified for states with a third-place finish in the 105-pound weight class while teammates Chris Knox (70), Eric Hill (75) and Jim Foster (95) qualified by finishing fourth.

Tim Bohlman (55) made it to states by taking fourth at Camp Springs and Brandon Davis (50) and Matt Pandullo (80) made the cut by claiming sixth.

The Attackers county team also will be sending wrestlers to the state finals as a result of the Anne Arundel County qualifying tournament last weekend at South River High School.

Among those qualifiers are Mike Parks (122, first place), Ryan Edwards (115, first), Aaron Herwig (75, fourth), Josh Bright (85, fourth), Eric Hultgren (90, fourth) and W. T. Aye (130, fourth).

For the second year in a row Mountain Road Optimist dominated the Anne Arundel County Championships as it tallied a winning 193 team points. United Youth Club finished second with 159 1/2 , followed by Crofton Black (139), Navy (129 1/2 ), Mountain Road Optimist Silver (119 1/2 ), Raiders Silver (108) and Cape St. Claire "A" (107).

The Anne Arundel County Junior Wrestling League had three divisions this year. UYC White finished first in the Gold Division, Mountain Road Optimist Blue took first in the Blue Division and Mountain Road Optimist Silver won the Red Division title.

Winning their matches for MRO were Mike Schual (130), Rob Bookhammer (140), Josh Boyd (80), Ryan Howard (85), Mike Levasseur (90), Ben Helbig (95), Steve Hall (70), David Dulski (60), Chris Grove (55) and Bruce Dulski (50).
