Vandals, apparently armed with a pellet gun, a slingshot and a bag of marbles, roamed from Manchester through Hampstead to Westminster over the weekend, shattering more than 30 windows of cars and homes.

The vandals, believed to be at least two people riding in an automobile, broke two side windows of a marked state police car while it was parked on Main Street in Hampstead.

That damage was discovered early Saturday morning when Tfc. George Prager prepared for duty.

Manchester area residents reported two vehicles were struck with projectiles, apparently before the vandals moved south to the Hampstead area.

About 10 residents along Route 30 and some nearby side roads reported windows of their vehicles were shattered by either a pellet gun or a marble propelled by a slingshot.

Westminster police received reports from nine residents whose vehicles had windows broken.

Two of the vehicles were parked at Cranberry Mall, and the others were parked near the owners' homes.

No one reported hearing breaking glass or discovering the vandalism during daylight hours.

The windows of three houses in the Hampstead area were also broken over the weekend, police said.
