C. Holden Rogers, a retired real estate broker and stock broker, died Wednesday after a heart attack at his home at Olney Farm in Joppa. He was 89.

He retired about 15 years ago from O'Conor Piper & Flynn after working in the real estate business since the early 1960s.

In 1941, he retired from the investment business after working for several firms and then operating his company.

He had owned a seat on the Philadelphia-Baltimore Stock Exchange.

After 1941, he moved to a farm in the Bel Air area, where he trained thoroughbred horses.

For many years, he was director of the Maryland State Fair and Agricultural Association. He also wrote several books on Harford County history.

He was active in the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland and had been on the vestries of churches in Harford County.

He had participated in the Maryland Senior Olympics, and, i1987 and 1989, in the national Senior Olympics, winning medals in tennis and walking races.

His marriage to Anne Bakewell ended in divorce. His second wife, the former Harriet Shriver Howard, died last year.

Services were planned for 2 p.m. today at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Emmorton.

He is survived by two sons, Holden P. Rogers of Chestertown and Berry B. Rogers of Baltimore; a stepdaughter, Frances Flatau of Joppa; a stepson, Dr. William H. B. Howard of Joppa; a sister, Elizabeth Mullan of Baltimore; two brothers, Berry C. Rogers of Columbia, S.C., and Robert M. Rogers of Jarrettsville; four grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren.
