HMO settles overcharge case

Group Health Association Inc., a health maintenance organization, has agreed to pay $12.6 million to settle allegations that it overcharged federal agencies and employees for health care benefits from 1990 to 1993, the Justice Department said yesterday. Federal investigators accused Group Health of overcharging after discovering it failed to tell the Office of Personnel Management about discounts it offers to other employers.
