Towson St. seniors help shoot down UMBC, 60-50

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A trio of Towson State seniors making their final appearance helped the Tigers (15-9, 10-6) to a 60-50 victory over UMBC (14-10, 10-4) in a Big South Conference women's game last night.

Shannon Ward, who topped the 1,000-point mark last week, scored eight of her team-high 21 points during an 11-2 scoring run late in the second half.

Towson's career scoring and rebound leader Danielle Barry finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds and Megan Gebbia had nine points and a career-high-tying eight assists.

Barry's layup with 2:12 left gave Towson a 54-50 lead and helped shut down UMBC's offense.

Missy Quille (Annapolis) led the Retrievers with 16 points and four assists. Nikki Tinsley added 13 points and needs just two more to become the ninth player in Retrievers history to score 1,000.
