The Washington Redskins started their free-agent quest yesterday by bringing in defensive lineman Jon Hand of the Indianapolis Colts for a visit to Redskin Park.

Hand, who has already visited the Miami Dolphins, said he still plans to make stops at Pittsburgh, New England, Philadelphia and the New York Giants before making a decision.

Hand, the first free agent to visit Washington this year, said he was impressed with the Redskins organization and wasn't concerned that they've had a coaching change this year with Norv Turner replacing Richie Petitbon.

"I'm not afraid of change," he said.

Hand also said he liked that the Redskins have a history, something the Colts don't have in Indianapolis. "The early Colts history was in Baltimore," he said.

An eight-year veteran, Hand was drafted on the first round by the Colts in 1986. He made $1.1 million last year.

The Redskins will bring in another defensive lineman, William Fuller of the Houston Oilers, and offensive lineman John Gesek of the Dallas Cowboys for visits today.
