Manchester fire unit installs officers


The Manchester Volunteer Fire Department recently held its annual awards banquet and installation of officers for 1994. During the program, the company burned the mortgage on its Main Street building.

"The new part was started in 1984 and completed in 1985 at a cost of $325,000," said Anna Rae Marshall, secretary.

New officers are Bill Black Jr., president; Douglas Wheeler, first vice president; Steve Hossler, second vice president; Ms. Marshall; Ralph Dull, treasurer; Gary Eppley, financial secretary; Bill Black Sr. and Mr. Dull, county representatives.

Members of the board of directors are Charles Lambert Jr., Jamie Horrigan, Clyde Kreitzer, Ed Colbert and Kevin Graf.

Fire and Emergency Medical Service (EMS) officers are Steve Miller, chief; Donnie Nott Jr., deputy chief; Brian Graf, first assistant; Jerry Crowl, second assistant; Douglas Wheeler, third assistant; Malcolm Helwig, EMS captain; John Hettchen, first lieutenant; Tracey Leese, second lieutenant.

Top fire responders for 1993, with the number of calls they answered, are: John Hoffman, 311; Bob Hoffman, 246; Dan Marshall, 230; Mr. Horrigan, 186; Steve Miller, 178; Dave Marshall, 176; Bill Rau, 168; Mr. Wheeler, 139; Glenn Harris, 133; Mike Spencer, 125.

Top EMS responders for 1993, with the number of calls they answered, are: Ms. Marshall and George Neubauer, 201; Dan Bloskey, 180; Mr. Horrigan, 165; Melissa Dalgarno, 161; Bob Hoffman, 160; Robyn Snow, 133; Ginny Blackowicz, 127; Mr. Helwig, 122; Mr. Hettchen, 99; Bill Black Jr., 73.

The Fire Department welcomes new members. The company also has a junior fire company for youths.
