Two people were slightly injured in separate accidents near Taneytown and Sandymount on Monday, one in rain and heavy fog.
The first accident occurred about 10:30 a.m. at Francis Scott Key Highway and Keysville Road.
State police said Alice May Hoff, 57, of Detour, was driving her 1986 Oldsmobile 98 through heavy fog east along Keysville Road and stopped at the stop sign at Route 194.
She pulled out to make a left turn onto Route 194, police PTC reported, and then saw the headlights of a 1992 Ford Econoline van southbound on the highway.
State police said Ms. Hoff tried to back the car out of danger, but it was struck by the van, driven by Christel Meadows, 39, of Baltimore.
Ms. Hoff was released from Carroll County General Hospital after treatment.
No charges were placed against the drivers because of the weather, police said.
A 44-year-old Finksburg woman was injured when her 1986 Ford Taurus was struck and overturned on Route 140 and Sandymount Road at 2:55 p.m. Monday.
Diana L. Stull told state police she was southbound on Sandymount Road when her car was hit by a 1985 Buick Regal driven by Daniel W. Bahr Sr., 73, of Baltimore County, who was eastbound on Route 140.
Police charged Mr. Bahr with failure to stop at a red light.
Ms. Stull was treated at Carroll County General Hospital and released.
