A mother and her three daughters were arrested in a drug bust at the Southgate Apartments Thursday night, county police said.
Deborah Helena Little, 38, who lives in the 300 block of Highland Drive, was taken into custody after detectives from the Eastern and Western District Narcotics Teams recovered 70 bags of suspected crack cocaine worth about $1,500 and 56 bags of suspected marijuana worth approximately $700. They also seized packaging materials and $400.
Police identified the daughters as Laguana Neisha Little, 18, who lives at the Highland Drive address, Lovina Monique Jennings, 23, of the 400 block of Hideaway Loop, and a 16-year-old.
All four were charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said they recovered evidence to suggest the drugs were brought to the county from New York.
Laguana Little and Lovina Jennings were being held in the county detention center in lieu of $7,500 bail, police spokesman Officer Randy Bell said. Deborah Little and the 16-year-old were released on their own recognizance, the spokesman said.
Police dog catches drug suspect on the run
Robbie, the Belgian Malinois dog county police recently obtained from the Netherlands for their K-9 squad, helped capture a fleeing drug suspect in the 400 block of Glen Mar Road Wednesday night, police said.
The dog, who only understands commands in Dutch, chased the man for two blocks before catching up with him and holding onto him until officers arrived, police spokesman Officer Randy Bell said.
The incident began about 10 p.m. Wednesday when Northern District tactical narcotics officers completed an alleged drug transaction with a man they identified as 26-year-old Anthony Gomer, of the 400 block of Glen Mar Road. Mr. Gomer fled when officers tried to arrest him, police said, and that's when Robbie gave chase.
The Belgian Malinois -- whose age is known only to his trainer -- caught Mr. Gomer in woods between Phirne Road and Glen Mar Road.
Police said Mr. Gomer and another man, 30-year-old Robin Parrott of the 1800 block of Pioneer Court in Severn, were in a 1986 Buick Regal when the alleged drug buy was made. Mr. Gomer pushed his way out of the car and fled when police were about to arrest him, Officer Bell said.
Police said they found a large amount of suspected heroin and cocaine in the car, which they also seized.
Mr. Gomer was charged with possession with intent to distribute drugs, while Mr. Parrott was charged with possession of heroin, police said.
