Towson runs by Charleston So.

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Sophomore forward Stevie Thomas (Walbrook) came off the bench to score a career-high 18 points and grab eight rebounds, leading Towson State to an 84-77 Big South Conference victory over Charleston Southern at the North Charleston Coliseum last night.

Playing on the road for the second straight day, the Tigers (15-8, 10-3) took an early lead and led by as many as 10 points midway through the second half.

"Stevie certainly had an impact, said Towson State coach Terry Truax, whose team rebounded from a 105-89 loss to Coastal Carolina on Sunday. "Our free-throw shooting in the second half [20-for-25] was a key factor."

Scooter Alexander led the Tigers with 24 points. Ralph Blalock added 20 points and eight rebounds and senior John James had 11 points.

Charleston Southern (7-15, 5-9) was led by Eric Burks' 22 points.
