An 18-year-old Baltimore man pleaded guilty yesterday in Baltimore County Circuit Court to a sexual attack on a Rodgers Forge woman last May and agreed to testify against his co-defendant.
In return, county and city prosecutors will drop robbery charges in six other cases against Derrick Adams, of the 2800 block of Oakford Road, said Assistant State's Attorney Robin S. Coffin.
Ms. Coffin said that after Adams testifies against Horace L. Montague, 22, of the 2400 block of Coldspring Lane, she will ask that he be sentenced to life in prison with all but 50 years suspended. Adams was convicted of a first-degree sex offense.
Mr. Montague is charged with two rapes in Baltimore County and several rapes and robberies in the city, Ms. Coffin said.
According to the statement of facts to support Adams' guilty plea, Adams and an accomplice attacked a 28-year-old woman around 3 a.m. May 30 in a parking lot on Dumbarton Road as she took a vacuum cleaner from the trunk of her car. The accomplice grabbed the woman, pushed her to the ground and ripped her clothes off, implying that he had a gun.
As his accomplice raped the victim, Adams appeared and also sexually attacked the woman, Ms. Coffin said.
The two men then dressed the victim and took her in her car to an automated teller machine. When the first machine didn't work, they took her to a second machine, where they also were unsuccessful. Adams ordered the woman to try the machine.
A camera inside the machine photographed Adams and the victim, who gave Adams $80, the prosecutor said. The woman was ordered back into the car and again forced to perform a sex act before she was taken home and released.
Police recovered several items from the crime scene and found Adams' fingerprint on the victim's car, Ms. Coffin told Judge Christian M. Kahl.
Ms. Coffin also said Adams told the police he and the other man had been waiting for about an hour and were almost ready to give up when the victim drove past them. They had an automatic handgun. Adams also told police that when he held a gun on someone, it gave him a feeling of power.
