Man robs restaurant at gunpoint


A man armed with a handgun robbed the Paradisco Restaurant in Locust Mall of an undisclosed amount of money about 10 p.m. Saturday, Westminster police reported.

Investigators said the man, who was described as black, 6 feet tall with a thin build and wearing dark clothing and a hat, entered the restaurant in the first block of E. Main St. with the gun in his hand. The man approached an employee behind a counter and demanded cash from the register, police were told.

After receiving the money, the man fled on foot, police said.

No one was injured.

Westminster boy robbed near home

A 15-year-old Westminster boy was robbed of a pager and an earring by another youth who verbally threatened him about 8:20 p.m. Saturday, state police reported.

The boy, whose name was not released by police, was walking near his home in the 1200 block Old Manchester Road when he was approached by the older youth.

Police said the robber also took the victim's wallet and two pocket knives. The loss was estimated at $155.


* Westminster: An employee of Langdon Oil Co. on East George Street reported to city police that someone broke a window and a door handle there Sunday. The damage was estimated at $30.

Someone broke a window Saturday at the Schaeffer Lumber Co. office, which caused a burglar alarm to sound. Police who responded said that they found no one in the building. Company officials estimated the loss at $50.

An Owings Mills woman told police that someone stole the rear license tag from her car Saturday, while it was parked at Cranberry Square Shopping Center.

A Webster Street resident reported that his vehicle was burglarized and several items were stolen from it Thursday. He estimated the loss at $1,000.


* Pleasant Valley: Engines from Pleasant Valley, Westminster and Littlestown were dispatched to a chimney fire on Leppo Road at 12:38 a.m. Monday. They were out for one hour.
