Disney on IceToday is the last day...

Disney on Ice

Today is the last day to catch Walt Disney's World on Ice at the Baltimore Arena. Of course, when I think of a world on ice, I think of driving on ice, walking on ice, falling on ice, scraping ice off my car windshield and getting ice bits in my red, fuzzy mittens. But don't let my frosty attitude stop you from seeing Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Roger Rabbit, Chip and Dale (has anyone figured out which one is Chip and which one is Dale?) and all those other lovable Disney characters happily skating on the ice in a show called "Mickey's Great Adventures." Because of them, we're reminded that ice can sometimes be nice.

Walt Disney's World on Ice, featuring "Mickey's Great Adventures," the Baltimore Arena, 201 W. Baltimore St., today, 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $8.50, $11.50 and $14.50. Call (410) 481-SEAT.

Happy birthday, Babe!

Today would have been George Herman "Babe" Ruth's 99th birthday. To mark this momentous occasion, the Baltimore-born baseball legend will be honored with a party at his birthplace, now the Babe Ruth Museum. There's no need for fans to bring a gift, though. In fact, a gift will be given to all who arrive between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.: free admission. The party begins at noon and is expected to last from an hour to an hour and a half. Party-goers will be treated to a champagne toast and birthday cake. After the party, the museum, which is also the official museum of the Baltimore Orioles, will unveil additions to its collection of baseball memorabilia. Those of you still burning with All-Star Game fever can check out the new display of items from the '93 game at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Babe Ruth's 99th birthday celebration, the Babe Ruth Museum, 216 Emory St., today beginning at noon. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. Regular admission is $4.50 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and $2 for children. Call (410) 727-1539.
