Frederick Flyers (Atlantic Basketball Association) -- Semipro team signed former Salisbury State G-F Andre Foreman, the leading scorer in state history with 2,940 points, and former Frostburg State standout Lewie Thomas. Foreman, 6 feet 6, had recently averaged 36.0 points, 15.0 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 3.3 steals for the Horsham Hornets in Australia.
ECAC -- Named Loyola junior F Patty Stoffey Division I Women's Player of the Week. She averaged 31.0 points and 11.0 rebounds in victories over Iona and Fairfield last week.

Miami -- Announced that G Michael Gardner has been kicked off the basketball team for violating a team curfew during a trip to Georgetown.

Virginia -- Signed Loyola High DT Faraji Mason (6 feet 4, 245 pounds) to a letter of intent. Mason was second-team All-Metro in 1993 and first-team in 1992.
NFL -- Awarded 24 extra draft picks as compensation for free agents lost after the 1992 season. Under the new collective bargaining agreement, teams receive extra draft picks if they lose more unrestricted free agents than they sign. Buffalo was awarded two extra picks in the second round; Dallas, Minnesota, the Los Angeles Rams, the New York Giants and San Diego were given one each. San Francisco and Philadelphia got two extra picks in the third round; Atlanta, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Dallas, Houston and San Diego get one each. Houston and San Diego got one extra pick in the fifth round. Philadelphia got two extra sixth-round selections; Buffalo, Houston and the Rams got one each.
