Kansas City Royals -- Agreed to a $1.6 million, one-year contract with P Stan Belinda, who $1,165,000 last season; he had asked for $2 million in arbitration, and the Royals had offered $1.35 million. P Tom Gordon (12-6, 3.58 ERA), who made $890,000 last season, was awarded $2,635,000 by arbitrator Rolf Valtin; the Royals offered $1.4 million.

Montreal Expos -- Named Ed Creech director of scouting. P Mel Rojas (5-8, 2.95 ERA), who made $300,000 last season, will get $850,000, instead of his request for $1.2 million, arbitrator Reginald Alleyne decided.

Pittsburgh Pirates -- Named Steve Sloan assistant GM and Reid Mitchell director of marketing for Single-A Welland, not for the major-league club as was reported erroneously yesterday.

Texas Rangers -- Agreed to a one-year, $2.3 million deal with P Kenny Rogers (16-10, 4.10 ERA), who made $1 million last season. Rogers had asked for $2.5 million in arbitration; the Rangers had offered $2 million.


NBA -- Suspended Philadelphia 76ers C Shawn Bradley for one game (last night's) and fined him $3,000 for making excessive physical contact with a referee. Named Orlando Magic G Anfernee Hardaway Rookie of the Month and the Chicago Bulls' Phil Jackson Coach of the Month.

Phoenix Suns -- Signed G Elliott Perry to a second 10-day contract.


Italian Basketball Federation -- Suspended Montecatini G Mario Boni, the Italian league's leading scorer, for two years for taking steroids.
