GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Stephen Stewart overcame first-half foul trouble to score all 17 of his points in the second half and lift Coppin State (8-7, 2-0) to a 76-72 win over North Carolina A&T; (2-7, 1-2) in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game last night.
Stewart committed two quick fouls and sat out the last 11 minutes of the first half. The Eagles trailed 55-50 early in the second before Stewart scored 11 in a 20-7 run. He added a three-pointer with 3:05 left for a 70-62 Eagles lead.
It was Coppin's 21st straight MEAC win and 18th straight regular-season conference win.tying N.C. A&T;'s mark set from 1986-88
