Pedestrian killed Monday is identified


A man struck and killed while walking on Ritchie Highway in Arnold Monday afternoon has been identified as George Henry Parker, 51, of Annapolis.

County police said several people called the Eastern District station after seeing news reports of the man's death. They were able to identify him through a photo taken by the Medical Examiner's office.

Police said Mr. Parker was walking south on Ritchie Highway about 3 p.m. when he was hit by a car driven by Alfred A. Winborne Jr., 20, of the 8200 block of Clearwater Drive in Severn.

Mr. Winborne was charged with driving on a suspended license.

Police said on Tuesday they believed Mr. Parker was homeless. Yesterday, they said Mr. Parker had been staying in a home in the 1000 block of Jackson St., in Annapolis, but did not live there.

Glendening to speak to 33rd District club

Prince George's County Executive Parris N. Glendening will speak at the 33rd District Democratic Club meeting on Jan. 11.

Mr. Glendening is a candidate for the Democratic nomination for governor. The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Woods Memorial Church on Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard and Evergreen Road in Severna Park.
