Lake Clifton advances in Del. tourney


LEWES, Del. -- Reggie Frazier scored 24 points and Shawnta Rogers added 20, including a jumper with five seconds left to send the game into overtime, and No. 5 Lake Clifton (4-2) went on to down Glasgow, 82-74, in a first-round game of the Slam Dunk To The Beach Tournament last night.

Lake Clifton will meet St. Mark's of Wilmington, Del., at 2 p.m. today.

* John Carroll Tournament: Pallotti and host John Carroll took opposite paths in achieving opening-round victories in the first round at John Carroll Tournament. Pallotti (2-4), from Laurel, dTC overcame a two-point Bel Air (0-6) lead with with seven straight points in the last three minutes and won 47-44, while John Carroll (4-3) ran away from Perryville (1-6), 61-15.

Junior Kelly Horning had a free throw and two baskets and her sister, sophomore Becky Horning added a field goal as Pallotti broke away at the end. Christy Wrenn was the high scorer for Pallotti with 16; Amy Whitsel (12) and Jean Tyrrell (11) led Bel Air.

Senior Krystin Porcella topped John Carroll with 21 points. Freshman Kate Blaney had 14 points, one more than her season total prior to the game.

Delcina Schoff had eight points for Perryville, which had one basket in each of the first three quarters in falling behind, 40-7.

* Kennard Dale: Calvert Hall won by forfeit and advanced to the championship game of the Kennard Dale Christmas Tournament. Calvert Hall opponent St. Paul's failed to show up due to bad weather. Calvert Hall will face the Kennard Dale/Oxford winner tonight at 8 p.m.
