Annapolis' Nicolini sets Diamond mark

NEWARK, Del. -- Kristen Nicolini (Annapolis) won the 1,600-meter race in 5 minutes, 0.52 seconds and established a meet and field house record yesterday at the Diamond State Indoor Invitational at the University of Delaware.

The previous record was 5:06.92, set in 1992 by Shannon Grady of Sun Valley, Pa.

Nicolini's closest competitor, Sally Glynn (Walter Johnson), finished in 5:05.90.

With yesterday's performance, Nicolini likely will be chosen to compete in the Millrose Games at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 4.
