Students excel in math competition


Andrei Palmer and Jen Harden of Severna Park High School earned perfect scores in the third round of the county high school math competition at Anne Arundel Community College.

The pair answered all six problems correctly, helping their school capture the round. Severna Park was one of five schools to solve at least three of six team problems. The others were Glen Burnie, Northeast, Old Mill and Southern high schools.

Severna Park finished the third round with 8.67 points. Glen Burnie earned second place with 7.67 points, followed by Arundel with 6.67 points.

After three rounds of competition, Severna Park is the leader with 26.34 points, followed by Glen Burnie with 23 and South River with 20.33.

The fourth round is scheduled for Feb. 12 at the community college.
