Marty Kusick, Northeast
Kusick won his third Cougar Invitational Saturday at Chesapeake High with a 9-3 decision in the 112-pound title bout over Mount St. Joseph's Jake Lissau as the Eagles finished runner-up to St. Joe, 255-217. Earlier in the week, Kusick posted two pins in a tri-meet won by the Eagles.
Joy Farmer, North County
Farmer scored 35 points and had 41 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Knights (2-2). The 6-foot senior center had 22 points and 21 rebounds in a 53-47 loss to Arundel and 13 points and 20 rebounds in a 58-34 rout of Glen Burnie.
Alhamisi Simms, Severn School
Simms took MVP honors as the 18th-ranked Admirals (9-2) won the Collegiate Christmas Classic in Richmond, Va., by 75-60 over Collegiate. Simms, who had 14 points in a 71-46 first-game romp over St. James, scored 25 points, including four three-pointers in a 75-60 title victory over Collegiate. In two wins before the weekend tournament, Simms had 14 points in a 73-47 rout of St. Mary's and six in a 68-50 triumph over Friends.
Kevin McKinney, Old Mill
McKinney took two individual events and ran legs on the winning 800- and 1,600-meter relay teams in the Anne Arundel County Indoor track meet at Baltimore's 5th Regiment Armory. McKinney won the 55 -- in 6.3 seconds and the 300 run in 38.4 seconds as the Old Mill boys rolled to the team title with 129 points, far ahead of runner-up North County (77 points). The 800 relay team turned in a time of 1:39.2; the 1,600 unit was clocked at 3:41.
