Witnesses help catch robbery suspect

Two witnesses to a bank robbery in Millersville yesterday helped police arrest a 16-year-old suspect who, police said, later implicated himself in six other armed robberies in Anne Arundel County.

Andre Lamar Evans of the 400 block of Glen Mar Circle, Glen Burnie, was charged last night as an adult with one count of armed robbery. Police said evidence on the other robberies will be presented to a grand jury.

The Washington Savings Bank in the 600 block of Old Mill Road was held up by a male armed with an unknown type of weapon about noon yesterday, police said.

The robber fled with an undetermined amount of money. Two witnesses followed the robber's car to an apartment complex. Officers found the unoccupied car, but then found the car owner's apartment.

The teen-ager was arrested without incident. Police would not say if the money was recovered.

The teen, police said, implicated himself in these holdups:

* Foods-R-In convenience store, Glen Burnie, Sept. 22 and Oct. 20.

4 * Park Plaza Cleaners in Glen Burnie on Sept. 28

* An Associated Cabs taxi driver who was robbed in Glen Burnie on Oct. 14.

* Citizens Bank of Maryland in Annapolis on Oct. 25.

* Carrollton Bank in Millersville on Dec. 11.
