Two Westminster men were arrested and charged with possession of crack cocaine after undercover police witnessed an exchange of drugs and money in the South Center Street area about 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
Michael D. Magruder, 23, of the first block of Charles Street, and Bobby Bowman, 29, of the 1800 block of Sams Creek Road, also were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
City police detectives said they recovered one rock of crack cocaine and two pipes from the car in which the men were riding.
The police, who were conducting a surveillance in the area, reported they saw the two men in a Ford Escort drive to East Green and South Court streets. The detectives said they then saw an exchange between Mr. Bowman and a man who approached the car.
Afterward, the car left, but the detectives stopped it in the 300 block of South Center Street.
Both men were released on $2,500 unsecured bonds after hearings before a District Court commissioner.
* Westminster: An officer of the Ascension Episcopal Church in the first block of North Court Street reported to city police someone entered the church and removed property valued at $250 on Monday.
A North Colonial Avenue resident told police someone entered his house on Tuesday and stole items valued at $1,925.
An East Green Street resident reported to city authorities someone stole his 1985 Nissan Pulsar from the area of his home on Wednesday. The car was valued at $900.
* Westminster: Westminster, Reese and Pleasant Valley firefighters, and the Reisterstown company from Baltimore County, were dispatched to investigate an odor of burning materials on Baltimore Boulevard at 7:44 p.m. Wednesday. Units were out for 32 minutes.
* Reese: Firefighters from the Reese company were dispatched to investigate an odor of gasoline on West Mayer Drive at 8:47 p.m. Wednesday. They were out for 24 minutes.
