Woman abducted, robbed after stop at pay phone

A Gaithersburg woman who had stopped at a pay phone in Mount Airy about 8 p.m. Saturday was abducted, robbed and later dumped outside a lumberyard there.

Diana C. Dunn, 34, was attacked from behind, said state police with the Westminster Barracks. Her assailant covered her eyes with a bandanna and forced her into a tan, full-sized car where he knocked her unconscious. Her brown leather purse, wallet and identification were stolen.

Police, who were called about 8:24 a.m. yesterday, found her at Calvary United Methodist Church on Main Street.

Ms. Dunn told police that she awoke several hours after the attack beneath an outbuilding of the People's Lumber Yard.

She was taken to Carroll County General Hospital, where she was treated for numerous cuts, bruises and scrapes about her body and then released, police said.

Investigators were still trying yesterday evening to locate the pay phone where the assault began. Police said the victim was extremely disoriented when they found her.
