Cincinnati Reds -- Purchased the contract of P Jeff Pierce from Triple-A Indianapolis. Named Marc Bombard manager of Indianapolis.

Cleveland Indians -- Named Brian Graham manager of the

Triple-A Charlotte. Announced that Dyar Miller and Donell Nixon will return as coaches at Charlotte.

Colorado Rockies -- Announced they have assumed the final year of the Houston Astros' player development agreement with Asheville of the Single-A South Atlantic League and extended the agreement through 1996.

Houston Astros -- Named Terry Collins manager. Promoted Tim Hellmuth to director of player administration and Barry Waters director of baseball administration.

Los Angeles Dodgers -- Purchased the contract of P Jose Para, P Ben VanRyn, P Todd Williams and OF Garey Ingram. Agreed to terms with P Drew Hall.

Milwaukee Brewers -- Purchased the contracts of P Tyrone Hill, P Scott Taylor, P Charlie Rogers, P Byron Browne, C Mike Matheny, C Mike Stefanski, OF Derek Wachter, OF Duane Singleton and IF Jeff Cirillo from Triple-A New Orleans.


New York Mets -- Signed OF Doug Dascenzo, OF John Cangelosi, C Alberto Castillo, IF Greg Graham and former Orioles minor-league P Chuck Ricci to minor-league contracts. Invited Dascenzo and Cangelosi to spring training as nonroster players. Named Ken Berry minor-league hitting instructor and Ray Ripplemeyer pitching coach for the rookie level Gulf Coast League Mets.

Pittsburgh Pirates -- Obtained 1B Brian Hunter from the Braves for a player to be named.

San Francisco Giants -- Signed OF Mark Carreon to a two-year contract.

Seattle Mariners -- Named Carroll Sembera national cross checker and special assignment scout; named Dave Alexander, Rodney Davis, Larry Harper, Mike Mayne, Tom McNamara and Craig Weissmann area scouts.


Detroit Pistons -- Placed G Isiah Thomas on the injured list.


Los Angeles Lakers -- Activated F Elden Campbell. Placed F Trevor Wilson on the injured list.

Milwaukee Bucks -- Placed F Frank Brickowski on the injured list.


Connecticut -- Announced the resignation of football coach Tom Jackson.

Florida State -- No. 2 football team in the country suspended WR Tamarick Vanover for Saturday's game against North Carolina State for breaking team rules about class attendance.

Macalester -- Announced the resignation of football coach Gary Etcheverry (2-37 in four seasons).


Nebraska-Omaha -- Announced the resignation of football coach Tom Mueller.

Northwest Missouri State -- Fired football coach Harold "Bud" Elliott (27-39-1 in six seasons), offensive coordinator and quarterback coach Doug Ruse, defensive coordinator and linebacker coach Al Cade and offensive line coach Steve Quinn. The firing led AD Richard Flanagan to announced that he would resign Dec. 31 in protest.

Wake Forest -- Announced F Ricardo Peral, a 6-foot-9 freshman from Spain, has been ruled eligible to play basketball by the NCAA.

Waynesburg -- Announced the resignation of football coach Ty Clarke (28-39 in seven seasons) effective at the end of the academic year. Two weeks ago, Waynesburg gave Frostburg State its only loss of the season.


Dallas Cowboys -- Activated RB Lincoln Coleman from the practice squad.


Green Bay Packers -- Placed G Rich Moran on IR. Re-signed TE Darryl Ingram.

Kansas City Chiefs -- Activated WR Danan Hughes and S Tim Watson from the practice squad. Placed RB Ron Dickerson on IR with a foot injury. Waived WR Hassan Jones. Re-signed WR Matt Gay to the practice squad.
