Oldfields, Park share crown AIS B Division field hockey

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Oldfields goalie Ceili Betsch never played field hockey until two months ago. But the native of the Netherlands must have been a quick study.

Yesterday, Betsch made 10 saves and shut out top-seeded Park to help give Oldfields a share of the Association of Independent Schools B Division Tournament title. After playing to a 0-0 double-overtime tie at St. Paul's School for Girls, Park and Oldfields were declared co-champs.

The Bruins (8-2-1) outshot Oldfields, 24-5, with a 15-1 advantage on penalty corners.

The Bruins were not happy with the tie. "I think we feel pretty bad," said Park defender Alexa Wilder. "We were playing well, but we weren't able to convert the corners like we usually do. That last little touch wasn't there."
