Movie official says that violence is out
The entertainment industry "is ready to assume its responsibility" and has already taken steps to reduce violence on television and in films, Motion Picture Association of America President Jack Valenti said yesterday.
"There is a great current running through the creative community trying to do something about violence, to make it politically incorrect," Mr. Valenti said on ABC's "This Week With David Brinkley."
He said this already is evident in the lack of violence in programs the television networks are showing in the 8 p.m.-11 p.m. period this fall.
