Dickinson tops Hopkins, 16-0, clinches tie for Centennial title


CARLISLE, Pa. -- Lou Cristinziani scored on touchdown runs of 24 and 2 yards yesterday as Dickinson beat Johns Hopkins, 16-0, to clinch at least a tie for their sixth straight Centennial Conference championship.

Brian Hickey added a 27-yard field goal as the Red Devils extended their home regular-season streak to 30 games and posted their fifth shutout of the year.

Cristinziani rushed for 144 yards and Chris Hughes added 102 as Dickinson (7-1, 5-0) gained 278 yards on the ground. Johns Hopkins (4-4, 2-3), which had been averaging 25.2 points per game, managed only 205 yards of total offense.

BDickinson can clinch the conference title outright with a win next Saturday at Gettysburg.
