Fruman lifts Park over Mt. Carmel


Junior halfback Neal Fruman scored on a penalty kick in the second overtime, as second-seeded host Park (6-4-1, 5-3-1) won, 2-1, against third-seeded Mount Carmel (5-6-1, 3-4-1) in a Maryland Scholastic Association B Conference boys soccer semifinal yesterday.

Park junior striker Kevin D'Anna sent the game into overtime with seconds left in regulation.

Perry Hall 12, Randallstown 0: Senior midfielder Scott Kennell and senior sweeper Greg Stark each had a hat trick, as No. 4 Perry Hall (12-0) shut out host Randallstown in a 3A-4A Baltimore County game.

Franklin 0, Dulaney 0: Dulaney's Alex Collier and sophomore Alex Balbier each registered nine saves in the double-overtime 3A-4A Baltimore County League game between host Franklin (8-1-2, 8-1-2) and No. 12 Dulaney (8-1, 8-1).

Parkville 3, Dundalk 3: Senior forward Greg Hines scored with eight minutes left in regulation to give host Parkville (6-4-2) a tie with No.13 Dundalk (9-1-2) in a double-overtime Baltimore County 3A-4A game.

Girls soccer

* Dulaney 5, Franklin 1: Senior striker Aimee Vaughan and sophomore midfielder Ali Schuch scored two goals each to lead No. 6 Dulaney (11-1) past host Franklin (9-3) in a Baltimore County game.

Loch Raven 3, Hereford 0: Robyn Harry scored twice and Dana Volk added one goal to lift No. 9 Loch Raven (11-1, 9-1) over visiting Hereford (8-4, 8-3) in a 3A-4A Baltimore County League game.

* Mercy 8, IND 0: Mercy (11-4-1, 8-3-1) advanced through the first round of the Catholic League Tournament by shutting out visiting Institute of Notre Dame (0-10-2).

* St. Mary's 2, Catholic 1: Kristin Buckley scored the winner at 31:20 of the first half in the Catholic League Tournament's first round.

* Mount Carmel 3, Towson Catholic 1: Susan Sipes scored two goals for Mount Carmel (3-5-1, 3-5) to beat Towson Catholic (0-7, 0-7) in a Catholic League B Division game.
