Howard County liquor inspector Holly Burnham has asked the Liquor Board to fine a Jessup tavern, or suspend or revoke its liquor license, for allegedly selling beer to undercover police cadets in July and August.
Detective Burnham has filed a four-page petition with the board alleging that Kathy Holden, a cashier at Three Nines Tavern on Washington Blvd., sold a six-pack of beer to an unnamed underage cadet July 1.
On Aug. 27, Cadet Todd Leppert, 19, entered the tavern and bought a six-pack, Ms. Burnham said.
The undercover purchases were part of a police investigation to determine whether liquor stores were obeying the law, Ms. Burnham said.
Both six-packs are being held by the police department as evidence.
The County Council sitting as the Liquor Board will hear the case at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16. It could fine the owners $1,000 for each infraction and suspend or revoke their license.
