A 25-year-old woman was assaulted in the parking lot of her apartment complex in Laurel early yesterday, but she managed to break free from her assailant, county police said.
According to police, the woman had just gotten out of her car in the parking lot of Horizon Square apartments in the 3500 block of Fort Meade Road at 3:50 a.m. when she heard someone walk up behind her.
The man grabbed her around the chest but she managed to break free and ran into her apartment building, police said.
She described the man as white, wearing a dark blue hat and in his late 30s or early 40s.
Laurel man shot during hunting outing
A 20-year-old Laurel man was accidentally shot in the shoulder while he was hunting in the woods off Route 175 in Odenton Saturday afternoon, county police said.
Michael Lee Nicklow, of the 200 block of Red Clay Road, was hunting with his father and some friends at 2:30 p.m. when one of them leaned a shotgun against a tree.
Mr. Nicklow leaned against the same tree just as his father dropped the shotgun he was carrying.
His father's gun hit the one leaning against the tree and caused it to go off, police said.
Mr. Nicklow's friends took him to North Arundel Hospital where he was treated and released, the police report said.
