Spaghetti dinner Saturday at Nichols-Bethel Church


The United Methodist Men of Nichols-Bethel United Methodist Church in Odenton are sponsoring a spaghetti dinner from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday in the church hall. The menu will include spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread, a salad bar, cake, coffee, tea and punch. The cost is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children ages 6 to 12. Children under 6 will be admitted free.

Tomorrow is the last day to purchase tickets; none will be sold at the door. For tickets, call (410) 674-6145 or (410) 674-2601. Proceeds will benefit the group's outreach program.


Meet ghosts and goblins at the Haunted House from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at Meade High School. The cost is $1.50 for adults. Admission is free for children ages 8 and younger who are accompanied by a parent.


Odenton Elementary School is accepting canned foods for its Harvest for the Hungry program. Friday, the school will distribute food to local needy families. Drop food in the box in the school lobby or give it to students.


The Odenton Kiwanis Club has elected officers for the 1993-1994 year: John W. Howard Sr., president; Winifred M. Pell, vice president; Robert E. Boydstun, secretary; and Kathleen A. Buinickas, treasurer. The new directors are: John A. Collard, George W. R. Davis, Jean McConville, Joseph P. McCartan, Myra Ortiz, Edward L Sievers Sr. and Vicki Wellford.

The club supports youth groups such as the Boy Scouts, the Gambrills Odenton Recreation Council and local schools. The club also supports local churches, the Odenton Health Center and nearby hospitals.

Proceeds from bull roasts, bake sales and other activities support community groups. The 40-year-old club has a yearly budget of about $8,000.


The Fort Meade Retired Officers' Wives Club is sponsoring its monthly luncheon and fashion show at 11 a.m. Nov. 2 at the Fort Meade Officers Club. Club members will model fashions by Talbots of Annapolis and LaPetite of Severna Park. Reservations are required by noon Thursday. Call Louise Giddings at 410-647-0945.


Health insurance counselor Bill O'Reilly will answer questions about Medicare and other health insurance at the O'Malley Senior Center, 1275 Odenton Road.
