Meals on Wheels, the organization that delivers food to shut-ins, needs people to pack and deliver meals, especially in the Glen Burnie area.
"We have problems in certain areas," said Nancy Shores, administrator for the Anne Arundel County branch of the organization.
Meals on Wheels serves about 230 clients in the county, mostly in the Glen Burnie area.
"We need more people to come in to the kitchen to pack [hot and cold meals]," Ms. Shores said.
About 50 volunteers a day are needed to drive the 18 routes and pack food.
Like other organizations, Meals on Wheels is counting primarily on older retired people as volunteers. But some travel south for the winter or are not able to get out as much in
cold weather. Ms. Shores said people who have offered to put in more time if needed are being called frequently to deliver meals.
To volunteer, call 263-5444.
* Glen Burnie: Vandals broke into the Glen Burnie United Methodist Church in the first block of Second Ave. S.E. early Tuesday, ransacked
the offices and punched holes in the walls, but they stole only a small amount of money and a stamp, police said.
