Nathaniel Rice, a retired crane operator for the American Smelting and Refining Co., died Sunday, his 76th birthday, of heart failure at the Maryland General Hospital. The Baltimore resident retired in 1975 after 25 years of service. Earlier, he worked at the Bethlehem Steel Corp. mills at Sparrows Point. Services were set for 10:30 a.m. today at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, 2201 Garrison Blvd., Baltimore.

Gwendolyn Jones, 38, a native of Baltimore who was a manager for an oil company, died Monday of cancer at her home in Springfield, Mass. Miss Jones was a terminal manager for the Mobil Oil Corp. in Springfield. Services were set for 7 p.m. today at the March Funeral Home, 4300 Wabash Ave., Baltimore.

Peter Nash, 56, labor attorney and former U.S. solicitor of labor, died Tuesday of a heart attack in his Gaithersburg home.
