Newspaper boxes discovered in flames

A newspaper delivery carrier for the Capital discovered several paper boxes on fire on Pleasant Plains Road in Annapolis early Saturday.

Over the past two months, dozens of newspaper boxes for The Sun, the Washington Post and the Capital have been stolen in Anne Arundel County.

Several Capital boxes have turned up in fields, set on fire. In most cases, the money box was stripped or cut off.

The carrier, Judi Heineck, reported finding eight boxes attached to two separate poles. She put the fire out. Police said the boxes were destroyed.
