CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. -- Jockey Kenneth Voss was seriously injured in a one-horse spill yesterday at the Charles Town Races.

Voss' mount, Noble Little Miss, clipped heels in the second race with Another Reject and fell rounding the far turn in the 4 1/2 furlong race, throwing the rider solidly to the track.

Voss, 30, of New Orleans, was transported via track ambulance to Jefferson Memorial Hospital, where it was learned that he had suffered multiple fractures and was experiencing cerebral bleeding.

Doctors were preparing to transport Voss to Washington Hospital Center late yesterday afternoon.

According to track veterinarian Dennis Dibbern, Noble Little Miss died spontaneously, most likely as a result of internal injuries.
