Del. Thomas named to cancer control group
Del. Virgina Thomas has been named by Gov. William Donald Schaefer to serve on the State Council on Cancer Control.
The council makes recommendations to the governor for programs and policies that would lessen the cancer problem in Maryland.
Delegate Thomas is also serving on the State's Procurement Committee. The committee is examining the procurement policies of state agencies to ensure that contracts are awarded fairly.
* Owen Brown: 9000 block of Watchlight Court: A resident was cut with a knife Wednesday when he tried to take back a set of car keys from his nephew, police said. They said the nephew took a 1993 Saturn Twin Cam and may have gone to New Jersey.
* Oakland Mills: 9300 block of Reader Lane: A husky man with a sheet on his head was seen exposing himself outside the sliding glass door of a home Wednesday night.
5600 block of Stevens Forest Road: A "Peeping Tom" was seen looking into the rear of a residence late Wednesday night.
7700 block of Waterloo Road: A Burgundy 1986 Chrysler Lebaron with Maryland tags YGC 42 was stolen some time between Monday and Wednesday, police said.
5900 block of Stevens Forest Road: Someone broke the windshield of an Acura Integra parked at the Columbia Exxon station Friday or Saturday.
