A free concert to honor the memory of Helen Cyr, musician, arts supporter and former president of the Baltimore Film Forum, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. next Sunday in the Fine Arts Concert Hall of Towson State University.
Presented by the university's music department, the concert will include works by Bach and Schubert as well as by Baltimore composers Gordon Cyr and Vivian Adelberg Rudow. Susan Badder, former executive director of Maryland Art Place, has been named curator of education and head of the education department at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington.
Currently working as an independent consultant on grant writing and program development in arts and education, Ms. Badder also served for 11 years as director of education at the Baltimore Museum of Art. She will begin her new job in November.
Actors in grades 7-12 are invited to audition at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Nov. 14.
Performance opportunities include participating in the Kennedy Center Traveling Young Players as well as in some of the programs of the center's education department.
