NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Sophomore Jermaine Bellamy ran for 133 yards and four touchdowns yesterday to lead Newport News to a 35-21 victory over Salisbury State.
Bellamy ran for 10 yards to score the first of the Builders' two touchdowns in the first quarter. At halftime, Newport News (4-2-1) led the Seagulls 21-0.
Salisbury (1-4) scored its first touchdown in the third quarter on a 5-yard pass from Len Annetta to Charlie Whalen. Annetta threw a 15-yard pass to Byron Pugh for the Seagulls' second touchdown. Pugh scored on a 1-yarder in the fourth quarter.
Bellamy, who carried 18 times, ran 19 yards for the Builders' final touchdown. The game marked the fourth consecutive win for Newport News.
