Jane R. Durney was named chief executive officer of Bon Secours Hospital and executive vice president of its holding company, Bon Secours Baltimore Health Corp., the hospital announced yesterday.
Ms. Durney, the first laywoman to head the Catholic hospital in West Baltimore, had been chief operating officer since January.
She said yesterday that the hospital would complete a $24 million outpatient center in March and planned to expand its services. The 208-bed facility, which has a larger-than-average share of uncompensated care, broke even last year on about $60 million in revenues. The results came despite construction that interrupted the outpatient business and the loss of $1 million when the state stopped funding alcohol treatment programs, which accounted for 20 percent of admissions.
Bon Secours, operated by the Sisters of Bon Secours, expects annual revenues of $64 million for the year ending Aug. 1, 1994.
Ms. Durney succeeded James Dague, who took a position in the Bon Secours Health System.
